A large government department managed vast volumes of unstructured citizen data across multiple storage platforms, environments and regulatory frameworks. Data was subject to strict privacy obligations, retention policies and archival requirements under the Australian Privacy Act and associated governance frameworks. Although the department’s enterprise platform could extract and analyse unstructured data at scale, the client lacked clear visibility of its data environment.

Buckham & Duffy was engaged to deliver a fixed-price proof-of-concept dashboard to surface actionable insights from the enterprise platform. Following successful validation, the engagement expanded to support production rollout and ongoing enhancement. A discovery phase was conducted to understand the data environment, governance requirements and stakeholder needs, including key metrics, compliance use cases and integration.

Outputs included documented requirements, defined interfaces and a clear information structure for the dashboard. A responsive analytics dashboard was designed and built using a LAMP-based architecture. The solution integrates directly with HCI via RESTful APIs to ingest real-time metrics, including:

  • 05Data past retention thresholds and compliance risk indicators.

The dashboard was tested and validated against production-scale datasets exceeding 30 million files and 90+ terabytes of storage. Iterative refinements were made based on stakeholder feedback before production deployment.
